In this session, best practices for flexible learning space in higher education will be discussed. Lecture halls with fixed seating are not optimal for today’s pedagogies of active learning that require different physical formats based on the class being taught. The ability to easily change classroom formation to suit teaching mode is a concept that has arrived on today’s campuses. Various products and designs exist to aid in making the learning space flexible.
Come learn about the difference between flexible learning spaces and active learning spaces, and see examples of what other institutions are doing to enhance teaching effectiveness and learning outcomes through classroom design. Our presenter, Stacey White, architect, LEED Accredited Professional and faculty member at the College of Architecture and Environmental Design at CalPoly SLO will also show a WesternU example of what can be done to existing classroom space to transform it into a state of the art flexible learning space.
