What happens when you want to reuse an image, figure, article, or other copyrighted work and you’re pretty sure fair use doesn’t apply? Who do you ask for permission? How do you know whether they own the copyright? What information should you include when you ask for permission? How long will it take? Will it cost you money? What are your options if the copyright holder won’t give you permission? This workshop covers all these issues and more.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Identify cases where you likely need to seek permission for reuse
- Identify the person or organization to ask for permission
- List relevant things to note when you’re asking for permission
- List options available if permission is too expensive or not granted
