Planning for a Successful IRB, IACUC or IBC Submission in IRBNet
April 2 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) are responsible for overseeing all research involving human subjects, animal subjects, and the safe and responsible use of biological agents, recombinant DNA, and other biohazardous materials in research and teaching activities.
As part of this oversight, Principal Investigators (PIs) are required to submit a research protocol to the respective committee for review and approval before any research can commence. This presentation will focus on the submission process for the IRB, IACUC, and IBC, outline the committee requirements, discuss collaborative efforts among the committees, and introduce new forms and processes designed to streamline and enhance the submission-to-approval process.
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Navigate IRBNet for submission of an IRB, IACUC or IBC protocol.
- Locate important forms and resources for IRB, IACUC and IBC protocol submission.
- Understand the CITI requirements for each committee
- Anticipate common causes that may lead to delayed IRB, IACUC or IBC approval
