20MM: Recharging Your Personal and Professional Batteries
June 5 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Feeling stretched thin? Learn how to tap the university’s Magna 20-Minute Mentor Digital Library—quick sign-in, search, and one-click bookmarking. Using the “Recharging Your Personal and Professional Batteries” video, we’ll unpack four proven recovery tactics: psychological detachment, relaxation/mindfulness, mastery experiences, and intentional control of commitments, then show how to apply them immediately. We’ll also explore how playful, flow-inducing activities (music, puzzles, sports) boost connection and resilience, and you’ll leave with one “play” experiment to try this month.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
- Identify common signs of academic burnout and explain how work–home conflict, always-on technology, and poor work-life integration erode wellbeing.
- Apply the core recovery frameworks — psychological detachment, relaxation/mindfulness, mastery experiences, and the Swiss-cheese model — to build a personalized resilience plan, incorporating boundary-setting tactics.
- Describe how incorporating playful, flow-inducing activities (music, puzzles, sports) strengthens social connection and enhances well-being, and select one form of play to trial in the next month.
