CATS – Classroom Assessment Techniques

March 11, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

How do you really feel about end of the semester student evaluations? CATS can help you make mid-semester tweaks to your teaching and course material that are student-centered and have a proven record of leading to better learning outcomes for students – as well as happier students 😊

In this session, we will review techniques outlined by Angelo and Cross in their classic text “Classroom Assessment Techniques: A Handbook for College Teachers”. A document outlining the “Top 50 CATS” will be distributed to participants.

Session learning objectives:

  • Discuss the motive and intent behind administering CATS during a course (and before the end of the semester)
  • List at least five different CATS and how to use them effectively
  • Discuss which CATS would be applicable to your specific teaching situation and how it might improve your teaching
