CETL & WSC Present: Creating Agendas and Taking Minutes for a More Productive Meeting
October 14, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
In this CETL session, we will explore how to take minutes in a more clear and actionable way! Setting our meetings up for success starts with the agenda and continues with recording notes that are easy to follow after the meeting is over.
Using a template created by the staff at the College of Graduate Nursing (CGN) and adopted by the WesternU Staff Council (WSC) to standardize meeting minutes and clearly identify clear action items, this presentation will go through our best practices for taking minutes for more efficient (and hopefully shorter) meetings!
By the end of this session, attendees will be better able to:
- Recognize the importance of the agenda-setter and recorder
- Understand how to capture and organize key ideas in discussion and how it helps meeting/team morale
- Differentiate between discussion, decisions, and action items
- Describe the flow of an action item from being added to be closed out
Who should attend? Any WesternU employee who host or takes notes/minutes for meetings (normally recurring) where there are action items that will need to be completed.
