Getting Started with Quality Matters

Quality Matters began with a small group of Maryland colleagues who were trying to solve a common problem among institutions: how do we measure and guarantee the quality of a course? This question became important because many institutions were trying to create a system where they could share available seats in their online courses with other institutions. Because of this, they worked to create courses of quality for their students, regardless of where the course originated. In 2003, the colleagues created the Quality Matters program, which would create a scalable process for course quality assurance. 

In this session, participants will be introduced to Quality Matters and how it can be helpful in effective course development. Participants will also look at some of the rubrics that are central to Quality Matters implementation.

• Describe the benefits of using Quality Matters for course quality and development
