Icebreakers & Ice Cream: Melting Barriers, Building Connections
June 10 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Are icebreakers just a way to learn names? Should we even be using icebreakers? In this interactive session you’ll discover how to use them effectively to build community, spark engagement, support learning objectives, and create a more welcoming environment—whether you’re teaching a class, leading a meeting, or kicking off a retreat. In this practical workshop, we will not only discuss the importance of icebreakers, but you will participate in these activities so that you can leave with a ready-to-go toolkit of icebreakers that actually work—and know exactly when and how to use them.
Instructional objectives:
- Define an icebreaker activity
- Explain the purpose of an icebreaker activity
- List the benefits of icebreakers activities
- List at least three icebreaker activities that can be used in the classroom
- Outline the necessary preparation and materials needed for at least one icebreaker activity.
