Neuroinclusive Teaching in Health Sciences: Preparing for the Neurodivergent Learner
January 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Neurodivergent students are increasingly represented in health sciences programs, yet teaching methods, assessments, and clinical expectations often do not accommodate their learning needs. This session will provide faculty with a foundational understanding of neurodivergence in the context of rigorous professional training. Participants will engage with case-based examples and leave with concrete tools to foster inclusive, supportive environments in both classroom and clinical settings, ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the spectrum of neurodivergence (e.g., ADHD, autism, dyslexia) as it presents in health sciences students.
- Recognize learning, communication, and clinical training challenges that may uniquely impact neurodivergent learners.
- Apply neuroinclusive strategies in didactic, simulation, and clinical learning environments.
- Evaluate their own teaching and assessment practices for alignment with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
