The 3 R’s: Success Planning for Remediations, Repeats, and Retakes
September 13 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Join us to learn how COMP supports students who need more than one opportunity to demonstrate competence on milestone events? During this session we’ll provide a brief overview of the Success Planning Process that centralizes support to students who need to retake final exams for FOM’s 1-8, retake a COMAT, remediate a preclinical course, or repeat a rotation. We will also highlight the faculty advisor’s role in this process. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in case studies to apply what they learn. This is part of the COMP Faculty Advisor Curriculum, but all who are interested are welcome to attend!
At the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- List the catalog outcomes for students who fail a preclinical course, COMAT, or rotation.
- Explain what a faculty advisor should do when notified that an advisee has failed a preclinical course, COMAT, or rotation.
- Describe what to say when speaking to a 1st year student who fails their first exam ever.
