The emerging science of citations: What authors should know

Citations in peer-reviewed manuscripts have a legacy that conveys the writer gave proper attribution to owners of ideas or concepts.  Advances in technology has brought forth additional dimensions on the importance of citations.  Through this presentation, participants will learn about the emergence of citation errors and the impact citations errors have on authors and journals.  Participants will explore a framework on how to classify citation errors and will learn techniques to avoid the most common errors.
