TILT Your Cauldron: Brewing Up Transparent Assignments
October 16 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Transparent design makes the hidden rules of learning visible to students, supporting equity and academic success. Using the Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) framework, faculty can strengthen assignments and activities by clearly outlining purpose, task, and criteria for success. This session introduces practical strategies for applying transparent design to your own courses, helping students understand expectations and build confidence in their learning. Participants are encouraged to bring their own assignment to apply the TILT framework and strategies presented in this session.
Learning Objectives:
- Define transparent design and the key components of the TILT framework.
- Identify examples of purpose, task, and criteria in course assignments.
- Describe ways transparent design can improve clarity and student engagement in their own teaching.
- Apply the TILT framework to an existing assignment from their own course.
