Will Copyright Let Me Do That?
September 14, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Can I use this image in my lecture slides? What about for a conference presentation or journal article? Can I post this article or show this video in my class? Does it matter whether the class is in-person or online? Come learn the basic principles of copyright law and licensing that can help you make informed decisions about using copyrighted materials in your classroom and your career, as well as the resources the library has available to help.
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- Conduct a fair use analysis using the four factors
- Discuss how Creative Commons and database licenses affect how you can use copyrighted works
- Identify what the Teach Act does and does not permit for distance learning
- Identify library resources to assist with using copyrighted material in teaching and research
