Best practices when using Articulate Studio:
Below is a list of best practices when using Articulate Studio:
- Work on C: Drive. This is very important as it prevents file corruption.
- Start new projects in a new folder. This will keep all files in one place.
- When moving projects use ‘save and send’ or ‘share’ to collect all files in one zip package.
- In the player settings, in ‘Other’ change browser size to ‘Resize Browser to Fill Screen’ and Player Size to ‘Scale Player to Fill Browser Window’. This will ensure the module is viewable on mobile devices.
- Before recording narration, be sure the microphone settings are correct in windows. Check every few slides to ensure recording sounds good- is not distorted, mic is functioning etc.
- In the ‘Slide Properties’ change all slides from ‘advance automatically’ to ‘by user’.
- If you are tracking student data in Blackboard, test the module in student view to ensure the data is coming through to the grade center.
- Prepare a script in the notes section of PowerPoint.
- Break up lecture slides with interactions or knowledge checks, every three or so slides. Conversely, don’t make every slide an interaction.
- Refer to Mayer’s 12 Principles of Multimedia Learning when designing slides.
