Unlocking Engagement: Designing Gamified Escape Rooms with Google Forms

April 8 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

This session explores how Google Forms can be transformed into an interactive, gamified escape room experience to support student engagement and learning. Participants will be introduced to a BETA escape room project built using publicly available information about the university, with an overview of the design process and puzzle construction. The session will highlight how simple tools can be leveraged to create immersive learning experiences without advanced technical skills. Attendees will also consider how this approach can be adapted to their own courses, using discipline-specific content to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and active participation.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the core components of a Google Forms-based escape room including structure, flow, and basic puzzle design
  • Analyze how gamified escape room elements can support student engagement and reinforce course content
  • Design a basic concept for an escape room activity tailored to their own course or instructional content.
