3D Printing and Digital Simulation: Innovative Educational Tools to Support Ocular LASER Labs

In collaboration with WesternU’s CETL 3D printing and digital simulation team, we developed two unique projects to support educational gaps in the ophthalmic LASER procedures lab within the Surgical Eye Care course.  These experiences may serve as an example to other departments in exploring how these on-campus services can help in their didactic/lab needs.

Learning Objectives:

1. Recognize on-campus 3D printing capabilities as it applies to creating a model eye.
2. Recognize on-campus digital simulation capabilities and how they can enhance student lab experiences, both during the pandemic and beyond.
