Author Beware: Tips for Spotting Predatory Journals and Conferences

With the exponential rise in new journals and websites, it can be harder than ever to tell whether a publisher or organization is legitimate. When you’re under pressure to publish and you just got an email soliciting submissions from a journal you’ve never heard of, what should you do? Is it an automatic red flag if a journal is internationally based or charges a publication fee? What if you hear conflicting information?
