Innovating SoTL with 3D Learning Models
April 25, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
In this Special Feature CAPE Session, Dr. Cameron of the College of Optometry will share his newest innovation in student learning: a brain-eye pathway 3D learning model.
This revolutionary tool was custom-built by the ITDL team at WesternU and funded through the 2018 Educational Starter Grant provided by the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry with partial funding from The Vision Care Institute, LLC, an affiliate of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.
Recent studies with anatomy and surgery students have shown that 3D printed models provide significant educational benefits over and above traditional textbooks and software. This session reviews the advantages of physical models over both 3D virtualization and 2D experiences. A live demonstration of the brain-eye model will be conducted as part of the presentation.
Join this session as Dr. Cameron shares in his scholarship of teaching and learning, and discover the advantages of 3D printed physical models over computer-generated models and textbooks. Learn how you too can partner with ITDL by taking your innovative learning concepts and turning them into a reality.
Come explore this faculty-developed innovation, learn about the scholarship, and discover the research.
