InteresTED – Brain networks – What is the Default Network of your brain (as compared to the Executive Network?)

October 13, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

InteresTED – Brain networks – What is the Default Network of your brain (as compared to the Executive Network?) We will watch two TED-Ed videos to look at some of the newer discoveries in how the brain works. “The Benefits of Daydreaming” and “How Friendship Affects Your Brain” Come enjoy a collegial chat after we watch these two brief videos together to discuss how brain “networks” and “connectomes” help to explain how the human brain functions.

Learning objectives:

  • List and discuss which parts of the brain are active during daydreaming
  • Discuss and differentiate between the Executive Network of the brain and the Default Mode Network of the brain
  • Discuss the differences between specific parts of the brain as functional areas and the newer theories/evidence on “brain networks” as functional units.
