Description:
Clear, respectful communication plays a major role in how people experience the workplace. Even small choices in tone, word choice, formatting, or assumptions can affect whether a message feels helpful, confusing, dismissive, or inclusive.
In this session, participants will explore how everyday communication can either create barriers or build belonging across roles, departments, identities, and communication styles. The session will focus on practical strategies staff can use in emails, meetings, documents, and day-to-day conversations to communicate with greater clarity, respect, accessibility, and care.
By the end of the session, attendees will be able to:
- Identify common communication habits that may unintentionally exclude others.
- Apply inclusive language strategies in emails, meetings, and documents.
- Recognize how accessibility is part of inclusive communication.
- Revise workplace messages to be clearer, more respectful, and confident.
