Artificial Intelligence: Expanding the impact and access of healthcare worldwide
February 15, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Since 1957 the idea of artificial intelligence (AI) has moved from myth to reality, and as we progress into the future, AI will increase its stronghold in our society. While the advances of this technology are exciting to some, others are fearful. A recent study found that nearly 69% of college graduates believe AI could take their jobs in a few years, and with the CheXNet deep learning software being able to read a chest Xray with a higher accuracy than a medically trained professional, the fear may be validated.
In this session we will begin to pull back the curtain on AI. We’ll discuss the history of AI, and the three main types of artificial intelligence while focusing in on how AI is specifically used in medicine. We will also share insight on an AI application that has some radiologists worried for their job security, and discuss how some of these fears are unfounded.
